“HT Veteran” – World’s first BHT scar repair 1999

Strip excision repair using body hair

Dr Ray Woods’ patient known as “HT Veteran” came to him for repair in 1999 after another Doctor left him with large Strip Scars along the back of his head. This was the first time in the world that a scar repair had been performed, using both donor and body hair. HT Veteran has now returned 15 years later to show his results. Hair Transplant Scar Repair. The Woods Technique Clinic offers scar repair to patients whom have been left scarred and damaged by older and still currently used, more destructive methods of the Hair Transplant industry. Many of these men may have undergone Strip excision surgery, leaving them with wide stretched scars running behind the back of their head. Further hair loss has left them with no option but to wear a cap or wig to hide the scars. Others may have undergone a “scalp flap reduction”, an outdated method which sees large areas of balding scalp literally being cut out. Over time, the scars stretch leaving the patient with horrific scarring.

8,000 FUE/BHT Grafts – Body Hair Transplant

8000 Body Hair Transplant (BHT) Grafts  Result Before and After

8000 Body Hair Transplant, BHT Grafts – Patient “Roman” was the first in the world to receive Dr. Woods’ pioneering body hair transplant procedure. To avoid thinning out the donor areas on the head, Dr. Woods’ technique takes hair from other parts of the body – the back, neck, and chest, to compliment donor follicles taken from the head. In the case of “Roman” 8,000 follicles were transplanted. The “after” images, taken some years later (the “before” images were taken in the year 2,000) show that the transferred follicles remain healthy and productive, creating an even coverage of the patient’s scalp. In addition the donor areas of back and chest are completely free of scars. Dr Ray Woods is the Inventor and Founder of the FUE Technique. Click here to call and watch the video to find out more about the 8000 BHT – body hair transplant Grafts.

“Monty” 1000 Beard Hair

1000 Body Hair Transplant (BHT) Result By Dr Woods Inventor of FUE

Beard/Neck Hair Procedures

Invasive hair transplant procedures such as strip removal or punch techniques can leave behind massive scarring and/or dead zones in the donor area. As seen on the patient in the video, this may cause coverage that is very noticeably uneven with thin or dead patches. Since the donor area had been so damaged by the previous procedures Dr. Wood was unable to use any of the traditional donor follicles to fix the dead patches and cover the scarred areas. Dr. Woods instead transferred 1000 donor follicles from the patient’s beard area, moving the healthy productive follicles to the dead or thin patches on the patient’s head. As seen in the “after” images, the hair coverage is now even. It can be combed in any direction, doesn’t require any special stylization to resemble the original hair around it, and the dead patches are completely even in coverage with the healthy areas.

Daniel – Beard Hair Repair Case, 2007

Hair Transplant Using Beard Hair Before and After Result

Repair with beard hair. This patient had approximately 17 previous operations which included scalp reductions, flaps and strip excision.

He only has very sparse body hair which will be required to repair his frontal hairline. This meant there was no alternative other than beard hair to repair the massive scars on the back of his head which he otherwise had to disguise with a hair piece. 1,100 Beard Hair grafts were transplanted into the scar area under microscopic control utilizing the finest instrumentation and technique possible. Transection rates were approx. 5% Beard hair can be very coarse, feel sharp or prickly and look unnatural on the frontal scalp region but can be used to repair donor scars. The pinkness is fading gradually and now looks little more than a shaving rash. I wish to stress that Beard hair should be removed below the jaw line to avoid any possibility of pock marks and indentations on the face.

Beard Hair is not easy to remove and is prone to transection and damage in the removal process. If not done correctly, for every single good follicle, several follicles could be damaged and non viable. If Beard hair is to be considered the last body hair resource then careless removal must be avoided at all costs. This may deplete valuable stores below the jaw line and force some doctors to attempt removing beard hair from the face and this I believe is potentially problematic and only to be used as an absolute last resort.

Justin – BHT Growth on scalp

Chest and Body Hair Growth Lengths
Astounding Discovery with Body Hair Growth on Scalp

5 November 2002 – Dr Ray Woods measured body hair transplanted on the scalp of our patient Justin, featured on this website. The body hair was originally 7 cm (2.75″). After 22 months it has grown to exceptional lengths and characteristics. It is now between 12.5 cm (4.92″) and 16 cm (6.29″) in length.Similar findings are confirmed with a US patient, (known as Timetested on various hairloss forums in the US). His original chest hair growth was 3.17 cm (1.25″). After 16 months it is measured at10.16cm (4″). has taken on similar characteristics of normal scalp hair.

Chest Hair to Scalp – 2002

Justin had previously undergone multiple punch graft and strip excision surgeries over many years. Because of this his donor site was severely depleted and his result was highly unsatisfactory. Artificial fibre insertion caused further severe complications. He learned of our chest and body hair transplantation and underwent several procedures with us. He achieved excellent results and will return for further thickening sessions utilizing body hair. All After photos have been taken with the hair “COMBED UP” to show the length of body hair. Rod had several frontal ‘Scalp Reductions’ and ‘Hair Transplants’ elsewhere. The appearance was quite abnormal and disfigured and required that he we …
